Jim’s Statement

I am Jim Baird and am running for a seat on our town’s Board of Assessment Appeals.

My professional background provides a unique blend of legal expertise and detailed municipal experience to ensure that every resident in their appeal receives a fair, impartial, and knowledgeable hearing.

For decades, I served as a Patent Attorney, a career that demanded absolute precision, meticulous attention to complex information, and the rigorous application of the law. This experience is critical for dissecting assessment records and applying technical valuation methodologies.

My dedication to public service drove my work as Town Counsel for five different municipalities in Massachusetts. In this role, I advised town boards and officials on the correct interpretation and application of a wide range of municipal regulations. I understand the legal responsibilities of the town and, more importantly, the rights of the taxpayer.
