Jerry’s Statement

For over 30 years, Sherman has been my home. I’ve been a registered Democrat since the first day I could vote. I have served the people of Sherman as Planning and Zoning Commissioner for two terms, that’s eight years total.

My friends call me Jerry, and I’m asking for your support as a Democratic candidate for the Commission because I don’t just know the rules—I know Sherman.

It is fair to say that in most things we all engage in, experience is a big asset. And that’s what I bring to the position. tt allows me to skillfully navigate evolving state mandates, ensuring Sherman remains compliant without sacrificing local character. Crucially, it helps me find the right balance on every application and issue: weighing the needs of an individual homeowner or business against the long-term vision and collective regulations of our state and community.

I feel public service is vital to a community—this is at the heart of my service.
I have a demonstrated record of thoughtful decision-making that prioritizes both growth and protection of the character of Sherman, while planning responsibly for its future.

Thank you for your consideration of having me as a Democratic candidate for P&Z Commissioner.

Best regards to you all,
-Jerry
